Two-Hive Enclosed Apiary Kit – “DIY” Edition

Fire-resistant ExtraBlock shadecloth is used for the lower walls of HoneyBower enclosed apiaries. The fabric meets the NFPA-701 fire-resistance requirements established by the California Fire Marshall and is 100% recyclable.

Choose the mesh or netting that you want to use for the rooftop and upper walls of your two-hive enclosed apiary.

Two precut, clear marine vinyl windows. The enclosed apiary has a window on each side so you can watch activity on the landing board at close range without disturbing the bees.

2-piece 1.5 inch welded brass D-ring - pack of 4 sets.

DOT^® Durable^™ brass snaps with Government Black finish. Each snap has a cap, socket, stud, and post. The snaps are used to secure the free edge of the enclosure around the supporting frame on each side of the entrance.  If you don't mind a less polished appearance, you can use zip ties instead.

DOT^® Common Sense^®  turn-button fabric-to-fabric fastener in Government Black finish. Each fastener has a grommet, washer, turn button, and back plate.  These fasteners are recommended, but optional. The apiary enclosure is designed for years of service, although the fuzzy side of the hook and loop might start to degrade after years of exposure. In such a case, the turn-button fasteners provide a backup mechanism to hold the front panel in place. They also serve as anchor points when the front panel is partially opened, and make it more difficult for small children and raccoons to open the enclosure.

Double-sided sticky wrap is used for the anchor straps that hold the enclosure to the frame.

Boning is used to reinforce the edges of the flight portal cover and to prevent the upper corners of the front panel from curling when folded down.
